205 Exercises

 Front and Finish

There will be exercises in each class which necessitates the dog to work at a distance from the handler, return to the handler, and return to heel position when told to do so.

When the dog returns to the handler, either by being called or automatically after completing his exercise, he is expected to come in, sit straight and centered in front of his handler and be close enough to be easily touched, but without actually touching. This is known as the "front".

Once the judge has been able to score the front, he will order the handler to "finish" at which time the handler will command the dog to return to heel position. The dog is expected to automatically sit straight in heel position on the handlers left side; how he gets to that position is optional - he can go around the back of the handler to heel position or he can move to the handlers left, make a tight 180 degree counterclockwise turn or pivot thus placing himself into heel position.
