Comments: From Veronica Tudor-Williams 1976 book: "Wau was built like an Arab horse, with a wonderful neck and shoulder, and long graceful legs. His hindquarters were faultless, with a very good turn of stifle and, as is to be expected with this conformation, his movement was particularly good. He had the proud carriage and springy walk we wish to preserve in the breed. For a native dog his wrinkle and tail were good, though by English standards could have been much better, and he had the oblique dark eye . . . His coat was fine and a beautiful colour, and he had the correct oval foot. He had an excellent brisket with the resulting good cut-up. His faults were: His nose was decidedly pinkish-brown, his ears were too big, and a couple of inches out of his back would have given him absolutely perfect proportions. I would have liked to have seen a little more 'Basenji type' in his head, and although no real fault, more white would have improved his appearance."
