203 Lure Coursing
Prepared by Susan Kamen Mariscano
What is Lure Coursing?
The objective of lure coursing is to demonstate the basenjis hunting ability in the field. The events help to preserve and develop the coursing skills inherent in sight hound breeds. These field events try to emulate real hunts but use only a non-animal lure to simulate real game bounding through the field.
Most basenjis are excited about this activity which shows off their natural instincts and ability.
Lure Coursing for Basenjis
This course answers your questions about sighthound lure coursing in the US for those of you who are looking to get your dogs out and see them perform the tasks they were bred to do (and get a fair amount of exercise yourself).
Weather doesn’t seem to be an impediment when the hounds go lure coursing.
