Comments: Zig was featured in Patricia (Byron) Cockburn's book "Figure of Eight" and in Claud Cockburn's book "I Claud . . ."

From Veronica Tudor-Williams' 1946 book: "From the time I first saw Amatangazig I admired her, feeling that she possessed just the qualities we required in Basenjis - small size, perfect conformation and extreme daintiness, and finally in 1941 she became my property. She is very small being about 14 1/2 inches at the shoulder, weighing about 15 pounds, exceptionally red in colour, with the finest legs, feet and movement I have yet seen on a Basenji. Perfectly sound, with a very short back and beautiful front and shoulder. Her faults are that her eye is rather round and full, she is lacking in wrinkle and her tail is insufficiently curled."

The progeny were the females Nyambe of the Congo and Eng. Ch. Fern of the Congo and a male Eng. Ch. Brown Trout of the Congo. It was the accidental mating of Brown Trout and Fern which produced the first tri colors born outside of Africa (Pictured below. This photo is confusing in its labeling in VTW's books as the dogs are called the first tri-colors born in the west but then are labeled with one correct and one incorrect name.). First tri-colors outside of Africa.
