Dear Member, We thank you for your patience during this trying time of rescheduling a National Specialty in short order. As earlier posted, the location of the 2020 National Specialty has been changed to Gray Summit, MO at the Purina Farms location. It will be an outdoor show, only with indoor emergency / hazardous weather option. Considering an array of challenges at this time, we have determined it best to shorten time and events that will be taking place. Below is the TENTATIVE schedule that we have arrived at:

2020 BCOA NATIONAL

Survey

The BCOA Board of Directors decided to run a formal survey to aid in making a decision whether to hold/not hold the 2020 National Specialty. It is important that we reach as many members as possible, as well as exhibitors who are interested in the National.

Please understand that this is not an official membership vote—it is being used to collect data that the BCOA BOD will use in order to make a well-informed decision. Please share the link with fellow Basenji exhibitors who may not be members of BCOA but traditionally participate at the National. The survey closes at 1 PM EST, Monday, August 17th. You must submit your survey prior to that date and time for it to be included in the results.

IMPORTANT: Prior to completing the survey, the BCOA Board of Directors request that everyone please review the information found in 2020 BCOA National Be Informed!, and review the links within as needed. We would like all parties completing the survey to be current on all the information available to them. Be Informed!

The Board of Directors will be reviewing the data collected from the survey on Monday, August 17th. All members have a week to read through the information and make an informed decision for the survey. Using the data from the survey, the board will be voting on whether we should cancel our 2020 National Specialty now or proceed with planning the event.

National Specialty Changes

It has been decided that the 2020 Specialty location in Mesquite, Texas will be moved to 2022.

For this year (October 2020) plans will be made to hold an abbreviated BCOA National Specialty at Purina Farms in Gray Summit, MO as an outdoor show, only to use indoors if needed for inclement weather. We are actively working on ironing out all of the details and will announce them as they unfold. As mentioned, this will be tentative, as we still need to watch the next couple of months how the pandemic evolves.

All About Dogs

Thank you to Berks County Kennel Club for a wonderful experience at your All About Dogs Day yesterday in Sinking Spring, PA! The basenjis had a great time meeting everyone and our volunteers loved talking to peope about the breed. We are honored to have received one of the rewards for the information at our booth. Thank you to Mark A.
